In August 2010, a contract was signed for the membrane facade cladding of the newly constructed stadium in Wrocław. The new stadium measures 105 x 68 meters, is over 40 meters high, and can seat 44,000 spectators. It was built primarily for the 2012 European Football Championship, co-hosted by Poland and Ukraine, but since its opening in September 2011, it has hosted concerts, boxing galas, variety shows, and other events.

Brief Project Description:
In August 2010, a contract was signed for the membrane facade cladding of the newly constructed stadium in Wrocław.
The new stadium measures 105 x 68 m, is over 40 m high, and can accommodate 44,000 spectators. It was built primarily for the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship co-hosted by Poland and Ukraine, but since its opening in September 2011, it has hosted concerts, boxing galas, variety shows, and other events.
Our company was tasked with designing the facade membrane, which provides the stadium with a breathable, lightweight, yet strong covering, allowing various images, text, and advertisements to be projected onto the membrane.
The nighttime lighting effects were also an important consideration in selecting the material to be used.
The membrane cladding consists of 20 panels of different sizes. We secured the panels individually to the main support structure in both the longitudinal and horizontal directions, then covered the fasteners at the panel junctions with a PTFE-based membrane.
The design of the PTFE components and their fastening to the main steel structure took 3 months. The manufacturing of the membrane and the membrane fastening elements also took a total of 3 months. On-site installation began in March 2011 and, with minor and major interruptions, lasted a total of 3.5 months.
The membrane installation was carried out in coordination with the steel structure work and other on-site activities.
The installation of PTFE membranes requires specialized technology and expertise. Our specialists, who possess expertise in industrial rope access techniques as well as specialized PTFE welding, installed the individual sections in accordance with the planned installation schedule, based on pre-prepared structural calculations and the installation concept.
On-site work for the membrane installation was completed in July 2011.
